Collection: Clickers
A key component of any R+ training session - the clicker!
Clickers serve two purposes:
-
Marker Signal - they "mark" the good behavior, so the horse knows exactly what behavior earned the reinforcement.
-
Bridge Signal - they act as a "bridge" to the reinforcement, allowing us to deliver food or other reinforcement a few moments after the correct behavior.
Thanks to clickers, you can tell your horse what they're doing correctly & reinforce it, even if they're across the arena, behind a barrier, or doing a high-energy exercise. Use a clicker to say "Yes! That was great, I'll get you a cookie!" - and be sure to follow up every click with a treat!
